During the renewal process, HHSC will check to see if you qualify for another program. If you currently have STAR and are no longer eligible, your children may still qualify for CHIP. If you lose STAR or CHIP and meet the criteria, you may also qualify for Healthy Texas Women (HTW). If you are not eligible for STAR, CHIP, or HTW, you may be able to get coverage through the federal Health Insurance Marketplace.
- Health Insurance Marketplace.
If HHSC determines you are no longer eligible for STAR, you may receive information about other health insurance options, including the Health Insurance Marketplace. As federally required, members鈥 applications are sent automatically to the Marketplace if they are not eligible for medical coverage through HHSC. You can go to HealthCare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596 to learn more or find someone to help you with your application.
